Leaders step into the uncertainty of the day – economic or political, in the real world or the virtual one, in the workforce or broader society, amidst domestic policy challenges or international threats – to make the key strategic decisions propelling their organizations forward. To serve people better. To create calm, and certainty, and clarity.
This call for leadership to act is profoundly important in the nonprofit sector. The need for services is spiraling upward, resources are increasingly constrained, and funding is frequently insufficient.
This broad backdrop of today makes it even more important to announce the tremendous news from OCHIN – America’s leading nonprofit providing support and assistance for the country’s safety net of health care providers. Concrete solutions like information technology, business services, advocacy, training and education, and so much more.
OCHIN and OSIS – a regional provider of information technology solutions for safety net providers – have merged to ensure access to quality services for more than 40,000 providers and almost 10 million people.
This is an outstanding example of leadership in our chaotic times with great kudos provided to OCHIN CEO Abby Sears and the entire board of directors, which I am so proud to serve as Chair.
Beyond that what does this all mean?
OCHIN and OSIS have entered into an exciting new partnership that will allow both organizations to strengthen support for our members and health centers nationwide at a time when new collaborations can be a catalyst for even greater impact.
• We know health centers today face unprecedented economic and workforce challenges that are forcing them to make some tough operational decisions. By joining forces with a partner that shares OCHIN’s organizational values and commitment to excellence, together we can do even more to drive health equity, help our members weather uncertainty, and enhance their ability to deliver equitable, high-quality care for millions of systemically underserved patients nationwide.
• Collectively supporting over nearly 40,000 providers serving almost 10 million patients, joining forces will enable OCHIN and OSIS to tackle the barriers that hinder today’s health care delivery system—technical staffing shortages, rising operational costs, and increasingly complex patient care needs that require comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) solutions.
• This partnership will combine the technical skills of the OCHIN and OSIS teams, deepening our collective bench of talent and resources to help meet the growing and evolving needs of our nationwide networks. We’ll have the option to draw upon each other’s technical capabilities as needed to extend our operational capacity and organizational flexibility to meet members where they are.
